My Succulent Garden

Succulents are the perfect plants for our Southern California heat. When the temps reach 100 plus degrees, they are one of the few plants still standing. I recently sent a bunch of succulent clippings to Maggie over at Gussy Sews. I hope she’s ready; I went a little nuts with the clippers. While in my garden, I thought it would be nice to snap a few pictures of my favorites and share them with you. I don’t know all of the names, but I love them all!

I tried for several summers to grow strawberries in this pot, but they always cooked. The succulents thrive in here!

This used to be home to my vegetable garden, but when it got too shady I planted a succulent garden instead.

This is my favorite pot. It’s a super-heavy, rusty cast iron kettle – LOVE!

The one’s shaped like flowers are some of my faves!

What’s going on in your garden? I’d love to hear all about it!

Family Rooms

My backyard patio is one of my most favorite "family rooms" to hang out in. I love being surrounded by nature, even if it's in a small space such as this one.

When we first moved into our house 20 years ago, the yard was nothing but dirt. My husband, Brad planted every plant that you see. He is a master in the yard!

We never thought we'd be able to fit a pool in our small yard! It measures 14' x 34' at it's widest points and is a perfect size for us. Brad carved and painted most of the surrounding rocks himself.

I love to sit here in the mornings with my coffee and the paper. What's your favorite family room?
